Sizing Suggestion: For use with winter-weight socks, Lake recommend ordering 1–1.5 sizes up from your usual Lake Cycling shoe size. The MXZ305 is designed with increased internal volume and vertical toe space to trap warm air for insulation during cold-weather riding. Unlike performance shoes, toes should not feel compressed. Additional space allows insulation layers and thicker socks while maintaining circulation. Secure heel hold prevents foot movement despite the added internal volume. Lake recommend adding at least 10 mm to your foot length measurement. Riders between sizes or planning to use heavy winter socks should consider sizing up one full size from measurement +10 mm.

MXZ305
In 1997, Lake invented the first true winter-specific cycling shoe, the MXZ300. The unique boot shape and construction allow us to trap warm air, which is the best insulator for any type of footwear. The pattern is designed so it doesn’t restrict blood flow to the foot, as it is your foot that creates the heat the boot is designed to trap. Keeping that trapped heat in as air allows two things to occur: your foot stays warm and dry.
Because the MXZ305 uses a highly breathable leather upper and temperature-regulating, wicking lining, sweat is transferred away from the foot so that it does not freeze against it, keeping your foot comfortable. The MXZ305 is the fifth generation of that legacy and continues to be the best of the best as the top winter-specific cycling shoe of choice.
WINTER EXTREME LAST: This last features Lake’s largest & tallest toe-box for ultimate insulation in extreme winter conditions. The Winter Extreme last allows the foot to maintain proper circulation even when thicker socks are worn. What’s unique about this last is the cycling specific heel, instep and arch shape that still maintain proper conforming fit to keep your foot securely in place while riding or walking without the need to over tighten. Lake’s Winter Extreme last continues to forge ahead to comfort and warmth for winter cycling footwear.
OUTSOLE: The MXZ305 is built on Lake’s Ultra Bomb-Proof Enduro Sole with anti-slip lug inserts. The rubber sole features glass-injected tread inserts, which are vertically injected micro glass fibers that grip virtually all surfaces. This outer tread is built around Lake’s SPD (MTB cleat) compatible fiberglass-injected nylon outsole. What really makes Lake’s nylon sole world- famous is its uncompromising comfort and performance. No other injection-molded nylon sole offers the same level of stiffness or comfort. This combination gives you an all conditions cycling shoe that is sure-footed and stable in any situation.
UPPER: The MXZ305 features American full-grain, water-resistant leather upper combined with a German Helcor abrasion- and water-resistant leather toe protector, ensuring durability, comfort, and longevity. The leather’s superior cold-weather properties and natural breathability maintain warmth and dryness. The leather over-flap keeps snow and debris out, protecting your feet from the cold. Lined with Outlast temperature-regulating material, it maintains a constant foot temperature and wicks moisture away. Additionally, 200 grams of Thinsulate insulation provide a breathable, insulating barrier that keeps your feet dry and warm.
CLOSURE: The Mid Power M4 Cartridge Tongue-mounted BOA® Fit System dial excels in ice, dirt, and other challenging environments and is designed to be easily adjustable with gloves on. The mid-capacity dial combines durability and closure strength to withstand intense force and impact without sacrificing fit. While the BOA® fit system is not unique within cycling, it is the way Lake use this dial system in conjunction with their in-house design, development, pattern work, world-class shoe last, and selection of superior upper materials that makes this system effective. TEMPERATURE RATING: 7°F to 45°F / -14°C to 7°C
WATER RESISTANCE: The uppers are treated with a durable water resistant (DWR) coating that will wear away over time. Lake recommend reapplying a DWR spray 1-2 times a year for moderate riders and every 2-3 wet rides for daily riders.
